INTER SITU

Distabling plant kinship

Inter situ is inspired by spontaneous vegetation and how our everyday actions can shape the future of urban plants communities. The interactive installation displays various native and indigenous plants commonly found in urban green spaces and acts as a commentary of how they have had to adapt to the human built environment. Visitors will be prompted to engage with these plants through intimate micro-interactions, engaging in multisensory experiences to inform potential kinships.

This interactive installation is an early prototype of plant kinship research by transdisciplinary designer Stephanie Ochona who is exploring more-than-human ways of restoring micro habitats in Bulleke-bek/Brunswick.

Workshop on Tuesday 28/05, 12–1:30pm
